Start a digital nomad move by confirming how you will work and whether your planned stay permits that activity. Choose accommodation after those questions are clear. A laptop and an affordable flight make travel possible; they do not make an overseas working life sustainable.
Put the decisions in the right order
- Write down your work arrangement, intended dates and two or three possible destinations.
- Confirm employer or client permission and check the destination’s entry, residence and work rules.
- Estimate recurring costs, departure costs and money reserved for returning home.
- Check healthcare, documents, connectivity and the tasks due after arrival.
Separate decisions from documents
“I need a police certificate” is premature until you know which authority will receive it and how recent it must be. First identify the route and receiving office. Then record the document, issuing country, certification or translation requirement, and validity period. Keep a dated link to the official instructions beside each item.
Rehearse an ordinary working week
Try the proposed meeting hours before leaving. Check whether your work can continue when a client is asleep, an authentication message is delayed or the main internet connection fails. If the plan only works on a perfect day, revise it before committing to a long lease.
What can wait until the destination is chosen?
You can organize work agreements, passport records, a budget and an emergency contact now. Country-specific forms and paid translations should follow the relevant official instructions. In TheKingMap, leave the destination undecided to begin with general tasks; select a country later and download a fresh copy of your checklist.
